Milcon brings the Christmas spirit to Aachen

Milcon brings the Christmas spirit to Aachen 16-11-2012 The dark days before Christmas have arrived. In many cities the shopping center and the streets are being decorated with Christmas ornaments and lights to make them very warm and welcoming.

The Elisengalerie in the heart of Aachen has also been put in the Christmas mood. A Milcon telescopic boom lift was used to do this. Because of the height of the Elisengalerie and the complexity of the Christmas lights and decorations our customer decided to opt for the MTD 2800SJ after conferring with their consultant. This is the perfect machine to do this job, because of its working height and manoeuvrability, the Quick Stick and the jib this machine has. The MTD2800SJ has a working height of 28m and it also has a hydraulic converter available which provides 220V power to the work platform. The rest of the technical data on this machine can be found at our website.

Besides Aachen, Milcon machines have also been used to put up Christmas lights and decorations in, and thus bring the Christmas spirit to Maastricht, Roermond, Düsseldorf and Brussels.

PRECAUTIONARY COLD WEATHER MEASURES

PRECAUTIONARY COLD WEATHER MEASURES 6-02-2012 Dear customers,

With winter approaching rapidly we would like to point out a few precautionary measures you can take to prevent – as much as possible - stagnation of your work and our equipment due to frost or cold weather conditions.

Motoring organizations are always very busy assisting stranded drivers during the first spell of frost and helping them on their way again. The most common problems are misfiring engines due to empty batteries and frozen locks on car doors.

Just like cars, aerial platforms and other equipment are prone to cold weather conditions and periods of frost. Often a few simple precautionary measures can prevent a lot of inconvenience or stagnation. Below you will find a few handy tips which you could pass on to the engineers who use our machines on site.

o Always place the equipment inside as much as possible after a working day. Especially electrically driven machinery should always be recharged inside a building.

o If it is impossible to place the equipment inside, make sure you store it out of the wind.

o A lot of our machines have the option to disconnect the control panel by simply disconnecting the plug. It is easy to prevent frozen buttons and joysticks by disconnecting the control panel and store it frost-free.

o If this is impossible you could cover the control panel in for example a plastic bag or glass wool. This also prevents freezing.

o Do not leave equipment in a puddle or in mud, because the machines could easily freeze to the surface. Especially crawler driven aerial booms are prone to this.

o The capacity of the batteries is seriously compromised by (severe) frost. You can also try to jumpstart the engine with your own jump leads.

We shall try to intervene as soon as possible should our equipment stall because of weather conditions, despite all of the precautionary measures put forward.
